NOTICE : This tool uses the internet browser. IE is available for only IE8 as latest version. The other browsers (Firefox, Opera, and Chrome) are available for any version.

Demo movie is here :

HOU TO USE :

At first, rez the tool on ground.

Then, click the blue button to rez the prim.

You use less than 16 prims and make the object which you want.

If building is completed, you click the red button to check that object.

Select "Yes" button.

If there is not a problem, select the "Generate" button to generate Sculpt Map data.

Then Sculpt Map data is genetrated in Local Chat window. Please wait for a while until all data are output.

If all data are output, drag chat text by mouse cursor from "<html>" to "</html>", and copy it to clipboard. (Ctrl+C or Command+C)

Launch the text editor (for example Notepad) outside Second Life, and paste the text data into the editor.

Save the file as plain text. Please enter the file name extension ".htm".

Double click the file saved, and launch the internet browser. The Sculpt map image (rainbow color) is displayed. Right-click and save the image as BMP from the menu that appears.

Upload the image file to Second Life. And use to the new sculpted prim. (You have to tick "Use lossless compression" option when you upload the image file.)

Set the texture, and...

Finished!

As adove, you can just convert the object which you made in Second Life into one sculpted prim, thus you can make sculpted prim which fitted the form of the target building and garden!

Oops. If you want to build the stairs, please generate the sculpt map data after tipping the stairs to become level with the ground. By do this, you can build the climbable stairs :)

At last, you can build such an interesting object if you use physics setting of Second Life.

Some sculpted prims made with this tool are placed in my shop. Please come and check it!

I love the idea of this product, but I am having troubles. I use the exact tools you use to create a sculpt (chrome and GIMP) and yet I am getting distortions - like strange spikes where it should be empty space. Any idea how I can fix this? I have even had this problem with using just 2 simple prims. thanks - diptheria Glas (sl name)

sTwo Acker February 3, 2010 at 9:21 PM

Hi diptheria, thank you for your inquiry.
maybe, you did not ticked the item "Use lossless compression" when you upload the image file. please comfirm the README and try it :)

sTwo, Thank you! I was not uploading with lossless, I was only saving it that way. Silly me. It works so well, it is truly amazing! Thank you so much for making this tool, it is already saving prims at my home.

Hi, sTwo -- I really love PrimOven, but I am also having some trouble with the sculpties. There are often distortions with a lot of vertices when using small cylinders, and also when the primitives use anything other than right angles.

Is there any way to fix those sculpts? I have tried adjusting them in Blender, but can't seem to fix them very well.

Also, it seems like the boxes used have more vertices than they need, and that the cylinders could use more vertices.

Maybe there is a way to update Prim Oven so that we can select between simpler boxes and more complex cylinders as well, and have it count the vertices before generating the sculpt map...?

Anyway, it is a great tool, and it's saved me a lot of time and energy. Thanks!

Tring to make a rounded gate that uses Torus objects. Will you be updating the oven to allow use of Torus objects please?

Anonymous,  September 19, 2010 at 6:22 AM

Yes, i agree. To work with Torus objects would be a great help. I also would be happy about the possibility to create hollows.

Your lovely tool is a great helper for the ambitious builder! Unfortunately i found the Prim Oven just now and not earlier. This tool was the best buy in the last time.

could i use this outside of sl, maybe another grid?

Anonymous,  January 16, 2011 at 11:53 AM

After converting my text to plain text, and saving the file with .HTM extension, when I double click on it to open it up in Firefox I get a tiny icon in the top left hand corner (not the sculpt map image.)
Any ideas what's going wrong? (Btw, am on a mac)

Hello sTwo.
Great tools you make. ;) I've been playing with
"Prim Oven" for some days now, and I love it. :)
Today I bought Cord Maker , can't hardly wait to try it.

Had same trouble creating sculpt image using the Internet Browser. Here's the fix. Go into Word or any other text program that you might know of that saves to the Plain Text format. Select the desired format, that being Plain Text. In the Save As dialog box, change your files extension from .txt to .HTM. Make sure you save it to a good location so you don't miss place your file. Then open your Internet Browser. Go to File, Open File. Click on your file, and open. This should bring up a colored sculpt map onto your screen. Right click and save it to your desktop. Open the Bitmap in Preview by double clicking it. Once opened in Preview, just go to Save As, changed your format to .TGA or .PNG. Now, all you have to do is upload! Good luck.

P.S. This method is for those running / using a Mac.

Hi,

I love this product and the sculpts look great to. I am however having some issues with textures after the sculpt is in place. I made 3 prims into one. 3 pieces stacked vertically varying in width for a pillar. I can not get them to line up with the provided templates and if I use the templates the image is rough at best. No detail at all. The sculpt looks great with just a tiled texture but more specific than that and it looks like crap. Anyone able to help or point me in the right direction with this? Thanks

Hello! This tool is excellent! It is simple to use and the results are exactly as one would hope! I wanted to thank you for developing this tool and for making the creation of sculpted items so much easier on your fellow builders. You are a genius!

Anonymous,  March 3, 2012 at 8:46 AM

I agree with Syke that this is an excellent tool. I'm having trouble though saving it as an .htm file extension on MAC (OS Lion) it just says that it isn't a valid extension and won't do it so have to send everything to my PC. Any tips as to how I can save the data as .htm on MAC?

Can anyone say how this will work with hemi cylinders used for a ship hull. I am hoping to be able to use it to reduce say 4 to 5 hemi cylinders into one section/prim. Also is there a limit to the size of the prims going into the process?

Hello is it possible to get a redelivery of this item? Thank!
